Peace Prize

In August, Fr. Matt formed a SFX Peace Award Committee to spearhead an annual "Peace Prize." The Peace Prize will be an annual award from the SFX parish recognizing an individual or individuals, within the Kansas City community, who have made a significant contribution towards the advancement of peace.

As a parish, we decided that a peacemaker is someone who brings peace and reconciliation, tries to comfort those who are hurting, and challenges those who are comfortable.

A peacemaker is a visionary thinker who also immerses self into action and promotes harmony in the universe. Additionally, a peacemaker promotes universal, inclusive love and helps us prioritize values.

The SFX Peace Committee will award the first peace prize at the Centennial Dinner on August 8, 2009. The committee is now ready to solicit peacemaker nominations. We are looking for an individual or individuals who exemplify the following criteria:
- furthers peace by demonstrating extraordinary service to the community.
- reveals initiative, creativity, and ongoing dedication.
- impacts lives in the community in a positive way.
- shares talents and experience with the community.
- demonstrates a sustained commitment to the vision of peace.
