Assumptions of White Privilege – And What We Can Do About It

Father Bryan Massingale of Fordham University (author of “Racial Justice and The Catholic Church”) says that the first step of dismantling systemic racism is for white people to acknowledge that “the only reason for racism’s persistence is that white people continue to benefit from it.”

“Repeat that last sentence,” he writes. “Make it your mantra.” And “sit in the discomfort this hard truth brings.”

This is where we start. We admit our ignorance and do something about it.

Join us Thursday, June 25, 7:00-8:30 pm via Zoom to discuss Father Massingale’s article  in the June 1 issue of the “National Catholic Reporter” – “Assumptions about White Privilege – and What We Can Do About It.” We will pray, reflect, discuss and make a commitment to action.
