Community Outreach

Harvesters – 3801 Topping Ave., KCMO.  2nd Thursday of the month with parishioners from St. James.  Please call Sarah Hirsch of St. James parish by the Wednesday morning just prior to the volunteer day, if you would like to volunteer: 816-728-6115.  

Bishop Sullivan Community Kitchen – Serve those who are hungry at 3934 Troost Ave on the 4th Tuesday of the month 4:00-6:30pm.

Jackson County Jail/Juvenile Detention Ministry – Volunteers will be trained for outreach through faith to those who are at the very margins in our society.

Journey to New Life – mentors needed to journey with those post incarceration to help them with life skills and navigating employment, housing, and other issues as needed at 3144 Troost Ave., KCMO.

Neighborhood Justice Center is a legal clinic based at St. Francis Xavier that, through volunteer attorneys, provides free legal services to those who cannot afford to pay. Our clinic has been approved by the Missouri Bar Assn.for its Pro Bono Legal Program but we are an independent legal clinic established as a Not-For-Profit Corporation registered with the Missouri Secretary of State.  We generally draw our clients from the food pantries or offices at SFX and St. Therese Little Flower Parish but also receive referrals from other sources such as the Don Bosco Center.  We are seeking additional volunteer attorneys and a part-time volunteer with secretarial experience so that we can expand our services.  If interested, please contact Tom Bradshaw at tbradshaw2111@gmail.com.

Giving the Basics provides the necessities of life, not covered by government assistance programs, that most people take for granted such as laundry soap, shampoo, deodorant, toilet paper and other personal care hygiene products.
