Music Ministry
Music plays a large role in the prayer life of the church. Music Ministers serve the parish by leading the sung prayer of all who gather for liturgies. The goal of music ministry is not to perform for all present, but to inspire all present to join our voices as one and lift our song to God.
Parishioners with a gift for music and a desire to offer their gift by supporting the sung prayer of the worshiping community as cantor, choir member and instrumentalist. Please contact the Front Office (816) 523-5115.
Cantors proclaim the Word of God as Psalmist and lead the congregation in singing as needed. This ministry is open to high school age or older. Audition required; Training is provided.
Choir generally sings at Sunday 10:30 AM Mass. You don’t have to read music to share your love of singing as a music minister. Practices are held Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm.
Inter-Generational Choir (children, youth and adults) singing together at the 4:00pm Christmas Eve Mass. Rehearsals are held after the 10:30 Mass during Advent, in the Church.
Instrumentalists Members of the parish who play guitar, brass, wood wind or string instruments at school or with a community ensemble are welcome to share their talent on a regular basis or for special occasions.
Seasonal Choirs Would you like to sing or play, but are not able to commit to weekly practice? There are opportunities to share your talent with our community, such as Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, or Confirmation. Watch the bulletin and listen for announcements about season choirs!
